I am a big fan of Newcastle - two hours North of Sydney in NSW. My sister has lived there for around 10 years and it's a great place for me to go and chill on a weekend if city living gets too hectic.
It seems a lot of other people are succumbing to its charms as well. One of my fave blogs The Design Files recently visited the costal city and made an awesome city guide based on their stay. Then there is all the attention that Renew Newcastle is bringing to the city and all the cool project spaces and shops that have opened up through the initiative.
Inspired by The Design Files guide, I went on a mini-adventure with my sister this long weekend. First stop was Bank Corner Espresso, a cute coffee shop with cool art deco interiors. My bro-in-law rated their coffee 9/10 - but said if the usual barista was there it would have been 10/10!After that we hit Nobby's Beach for a walk and ended up at The Newcastle Ocean Baths. It was a glorious winter morning as you can see from the photos - we were lucky as it rained for the rest of the weekend.
We decided to eat lunch locally and headed to Rolador Cafe in Hamilton, which has a delicious selection of breakfast foods and sandwiches. It started to get a bit chilly and I had to wrap myself in my new coat from Abicus.
The afternoon was spent chilling with my sis and then it was dinner and a movie. And then RAIN. So I was glad to get in my mini-adventure before the weather turned.
I hope you all had lovely long weekends too (if you are in Australia!)
